As an architect certified via SAFe for Architects, how did you restructure your architecture role to align with business value, support DevOps and coach other architects—what governance, artefacts and metrics did you introduce?
After earning my certification via the SAFe for Architects https://www.advisedskills.com/agile-and-scrum/safe-for-architects course, I reshaped my architectural role to better drive business value, enable DevOps, and mentor peers. I established governance through a bi-weekly Architecture Council where we reviewed value-stream epics, enablers and tech debt. I introduced artefacts like an architectural runway roadmap, DevOps pipeline design template, and lean architecture pattern library. For metrics, I tracked lead-time for changes crossing architecture boundaries, number of deployed enablers per PI, and architecture compliance violations. I also designed peer-mentoring circles to coach other architects on aligning technology with business outcomes.
That’s an excellent transformation strategy! Establishing governance through your Architecture Council and measurable KPIs ensures architecture directly contributes to business outcomes. Peer mentoring circles also sustain learning and continuous improvement across teams.
